My experience with BodyKun.com and a warning to potential buyers
TLDR: Don’t buy from bodykun.com (and others listed in this blog post) it’s a cheap knockoff that’s priced way too high avoid at all cost
Longer explanation:
Since I’m getting back into drawing more often, I wanted two reference dolls for poses male and female. This is where body-kun and body-chan come in. I’ve heard about these Bandai – Figurine S.H.Figuarts figures and wanted to try them out. They have great poseability, pretty sturdy, and come with props.Legit versions are hard to find, so many knock offs are out there.
I saw bodykun.com advertised everywhere whenever I looked for posable figures. I checked out their shipping and return policies, thought the site didn’t look like a scam (at first) and proceeded to buy the male and female version $86 total. There was a feeling in my gut I was ignoring, but I thought to myself “Maybe they’re legit?” Unfortunately that wasn’t the case.

By the time I figured out they’re overpriced fakes after seeing some actual real reviews of owners who bought from this place, it was too late. Within one hour of buying it, I figured I could just cancel the order and that would be the end of it right? Nope. First I tried their phone number, which I don’t even think is a real one. It’s permanently disconnected as far as I can tell. Then I emailed them and found out they only reply after about 3 days. By then it was “too late” and already shipped. The only option they gave you was to reject the delivery and wait for it to ship back to them to get a refund (with $10 covering the return shipping cost of course….sigh)
Here’s the thing, it took forever for this package to actually ship, about 3 weeks (shipping through DHL then transferred to USPS for final delivery). Then it took another 4 weeks just to be delivered. I was worried I wouldn’t get my money back reading some reviewers who accepted the package, but then returned it after seeing it’s low quality. Only to be told the package was “lost during the return, and since it didn’t have insurance, you won’t get your refund. That’s another thing, they actually encourage you to put insurance on the package during the return. Luckily since I was working from home at the time, I was able to catch the delivery guy and refuse the package.
I did get a chance to look at and feel the package itself and oh boy. That thing was beat up. It didn’t even come in a shipping box. It was just the blank grey box with some scotch tape on the opening end with the shipping label on the side. I could even see the half broken figures bending the opening back a bit. I wish I took a picture of it since my description doesn’t do it justice. It definitely wasn’t worth the $86.So once delivery was refused I sat back and waited until I got my refund of $76……three months after. Although bodykun.com made $10 off me at the very least, I got most of my money back so I’m thankful.
Moral of the story? Do your research when shopping online and don’t rush. Look for reviews/user experiences of these stores. Even if you’ve been shopping online for many years with no problems, you can have slip ups like me. If you want to buy the LEGIT versions of these figures try places with reliable retailers: BigBadToyStore,, AmiAmi, and HobbyLinkJapan. Don’t trust sellers on ebay, aliexpress, or amazon. Whatever you do don’t buy from bodykun.com, bodykunart.com, or shfiguarts.com. Also trust your gut. If it seem too good to be true than it probably is.
